A la playa

It's been more than a week since my last post, so I have a lot to share! We spent about 5 or 6 days at Cabo Blanco, which was like going to a remote beachside resort. The biological station there is in an 'absolute reserve' which means that it has even stricter protections than national parks. Initially, the reserve was set aside as a place where no human could set foot. That has been loosened slightly to allow education groups and researchers to use one section of the reserve. We hiked about 2 km from the town of Mal pais (I think?) to the station, which was right on the beach. This picture is of a beach a few minutes down the trail from our cabin. There was even snorkeling in the lagoon next to the station. We had 3 meals a day, plus snacktime at 10 and 3. I love snacktime- fresh bread and juice twice a day! Posted by Picasa
